Woven Pillow

This pillow is a wonderful personal Christmas gift. It is unique and not that difficult to make.

What you need:

5-6 Balls of wool (the thinner the wool, the more you need)

Filling (I got mine from a cheap pillow ;)

Cotton fabric for the back

Round weaving loom

Weaving needle

Scissors

Pom Pom Maker

Sewing needle & thread

That’s how it’s done:

Step 1: Warping

Tie the wool thread at any point and ...

… wrap it around the weaving loom.

That's the way the loom should look like.

Step 2: Weaving

Cut an approx. 2 m long wool thread, thread it into the weaving needle and ...

... weave alternately over and under the warp threads.

Hold the thread in tension and push it towards the center with the weaving needle to obtain a uniform pattern. If the thread comes to an end, simply tie it to a new one and continue.

Cut the wool threads on the back and ...

... knot them in pairs of two. Then the weaving can be removed from the loom.

No knots should be visible on the front. If necessary, you can push them in with the weaving needle.

Cut the wool threads.

Step 3: Filling

For the back of the pillow cut a round piece out of the cotton fabric. As a guide to the size, you can take the diameter of the weaving loom.

Fix the fabric on the weaving with pins and sew together. Of course, if you have a suitable sewing machine, it works faster. Do not forget to leave an approx. 10 cm opening.

Turn the pillow and fill it.

Step 4: The Pom Poms

Make 12 Pom Poms with the Pom Pom Maker.

The number of course depends on the size of the pillow.

Sew on the Pom Poms and…

... tie the threads together. Finished!
